our story
WPRB Princeton is a radio station with a freeform, community focus. As the station’s journalism effort, we aim to produce content that fits this image of what community media can be – an exercise in creative nonfiction to bring people together. We aim not just to serve the Princeton University or Princeton communities, but the greater New Jersey community as well through journalism that bridges the town-and-gown line.
our history
News and Culture has been running off-and-on since the 1980s, but this incarnation of the show originated in the Spring 2022 season, under the direction of Adam Sanders and Oliver Whang.
about wprb
WPRB is a community-supported, non-profit 501(c)3, commercially-licensed freeform radio station. While our studios are located on Princeton University’s campus, we are independently financed and student-managed. Our signal covers a range of approximately 15,000 square miles, serving a population of millions throughout central New Jersey, South Philadelphia, eastern Pennsylvania, Wilmington, DE, and parts of the Jersey Shore. Broadcasting at 14,000 watts of stereo power, our signal is among the strongest in college radio. WPRB’s live internet stream carries our programming across the country and around the globe.
